JUNE 2009 Vocational Students

Update on the 2009 Orphanage "graduates":

Below is a listing of the 2009 O12 Graduates who currently have sponsors. An Orphan Smiles is very appreciative that these young adults have had someone in their life who is a friend and who cares for them.

Anya B (Born May 30) SPONSORED - Second Year of Sponsorship 2010-2011

A little about Anya. Anya is enrolled in a two year sewing school. She is a special girl! She is very quiet and shy. She has a significant speech impairment that makes it hard for her to communicate with others. Anya is a very good helper and the caretakers appreciated all that she did when she lived at the Orphanage. She helped in the kitchen and helped with housekeeping. No one cleans as thoroughly as Anya does! She likes to listen to music and watch TV. Anya is appreciative that Tom & family are sponsoring her.

Kolia M (Born February 9th, 1991) SPONSORED - Second Year of Sponsorship 2010-2011

Meet Kolia M! He came to Kiev Orphanage 12 in 1998, so he considers it his home. Koila likes music, especially pop and rap. He loves watching action movies and comedies on the television. He also likes to cook! Koila is attending a construction school. For Christmas Koila received a special opportunity to travel to Prague with another O12 GAP student and an AOS volunteer. He enjoyed his special trip so much and was very appreciative to those who helped with the plane tickets. Cynthia and her family are excited to be Koila's sponsor and enjoy cheering him on.

Kolia S (Born May 22, 1991) SPONSORED - Second Year of Sponsorship 2010-2011

Kolia S has been at Orphanage No. 12 for eleven years. He likes to break dance! He also likes to listen to rap music and play computer games. His favorite sport is soccer. Kolia is attending construction school.

Luda Y (Born April 15, 1991) SPONSORED - Second Year of Sponsorship 2010-2011

Introducing Luda. She is a quiet and shy girl who had lived at Kiev Orphanage No. 12 for eleven years before starting vocational training. Now she lives in a halfway house associated with the orphanage where she can take care of herself under the guidance of the orphanage workers. This is a good transition to independent living in the future. However, we are not sure what will happen to Luda once she graduates from the trade school in June 2011 and moves out of the half way house. She doesn't really have a place to live in Kiev. Luda likes to dance, cross-stitch, watch romantic movies and listen to romantic songs. She is preparing herself for adult life by attending a sewing trade school.

Vira T (Born November 26, 1991) SPONSORED - Second Year of Sponsorship 2010-2011

Vira has lived at the orphanage for many years before graduating in June 2009. She likes to sing and does it very well. She is quiet, but very helpful. She likes to cook. She is currently enrolled in a two year sewing trade school. Kelly and her family are long time supporters of the O12 GAP program and love having the opportunity to help another "grad".

Vitalik T (Born May 13, 1990) SPONSORED - One Year Sponsorship Ending 2010

Vitalik is a very quiet guy. When he first came to the orphanage in 1996 he didn't speak to anyone at all. He was, however, always very helpful when he lived there! He could often be found helping the orphanage kitchen staff, the janitor, or others. He likes to do all types of 'hands on' work. He also likes pop and rap music and watching television. With the help of sponsor Lynn and her family, he was able attend a construction school for the 2009-2010 school year and he graduated in June 2010. He did very well in school and likes physical work. We are hoping he can find some employment. In the meantime he visits the Graduate Support Center at Orphanage 12 almost daily.
