Mykolaivka Trips to Kiev

Since December 2008, An Orphan Smiles has sponsored trips for the children of Mykolaivka Internat to visit Ukraine's Capital city of Kiev.    For each trip, ten children are selected based on good behavior to travel by train to Kiev for a very full three days of activities.    These activities usually include a movie, an arcade visit, a trip to McDonald's, pizza, an amusement park or dolphin show.   Believe it or not, a real highlight of the trip is riding the escalators up and down many times!   Most of these children have never ventured too far from their orphanage which is located in a rural part of Ukraine.

Some of the highlights and photo links of past trips.

March 29 - 31, 2012 - An Orphan Smiles helped raise funds to for the first ever soccer tournament held in Kiev for several orphanages including players from Myko.  Overall 30 children traveled to Kiev to play soccer.

January 4 - 6, 2012 - Ten children visited Kiev. Please click here for Photo link.

June 17 - 19, 2011.   The children selected to travel were some of the 2011 graduates from the orphanage and this wase a special trip before they start their studies at vocational school in September.    Click here to view the photo album from this trip.

This Feed the Soul program is ongoing and we are collecting additional funds for future outings for the children. As part of our mission An Orphan Smiles would like to provide the opportunity to experience typical recreational activities like going to a movie or amusement park to as many children as possible.
