your life has been worthwhile.

Graduate Assistance Program - General Information

An Orphan Smiles has developed the GAP program for children aging out of the orphanage system.

Each year orphans between the ages of 16 and 18 years old "graduate" from the orphanages. Ukrainian government supported vocational programs are available to most children who age-out of the orphanage system. However, the vocational training can be difficult for some of the students and with little funding and support, mny children are unable to cope and do not complete their training.

Currently, An Orphan Smiles is providing assistance for graduating orphans at the Tsurupinsk Children's Home (Click HERE for more information.)

In the past An Orphan Smiles also provided assistance for Orphanage 12 students and Mykolaivka students.  Orphanage 12 in Kiev no longer has any children left to feed into the program and the program at Mykolaivka Internat has been on HOLD for recent graduates due to ongoing political unrest in Eastern Ukraine.

In conjunction with our GAP program, An Orphan Smiles also supports the Graduate Support Center located at Kiev Orphanage 12. The Graduate Support Center helps all graduates, those presently enrolled in our GAP program, former graduates, and other “aged-out” orphans in Ukraine. Please visit the GSC program page - Graduate Support Center.
