General Information about parcels can be found below. Once a parcel is ready to be shipped An Orphan Smiles encourages you to send parcels to Ukraine by following these three steps:
General Information: Class boxes
When sending boxes for a particular class, it is recommended that one or two extra items be included as new children may have been added during the school year. (i.e. Fruit snacks, candy treats, pencils, socks, puzzles, $1 store treasures, markers, underwear, crafts) The class listings on the sponsorship page shows the number of children in each class.
General Donation boxes
Sending General Donations to the orphanage of new or gently used clothing items and shoes to be worn by any child is encouraged. Clothing sizes range from child size 6 to Adult Sm/Med. Shoe sizes range approximately from Child size 12 to Adult 9 or 10. Toys, craft/sewing items, art supplies are also always enjoyed by the children.
Important: Please do not send new unwashed clothing with tags. If you purchase items for the children, please wash and remove tags prior to sending. Gently used items can be sent with the exception of socks, underwear, and shoes. Like new/gently used items should be freshly laundered, have working zippers and buttons, and are without rips, tears, or stains.
Clothing Ideas Based On Known Orphanage Needs: • Coats • Gloves, scarf, mittens • Socks, underwear, thermals, pajamas • Hooded Sweatshirts, jeans, athletic wear • Sturdy shoes, snow boots, slippers, sandals, flip flops • Summer clothing for camp
Items to Avoid Sending • Anything that will melt • War toys, toy guns, or related games • Religious materials • Poker/gambling games • Hair conditioner • Perishable snack foods or foods that might not survive the shipment* • Do not send any MEAT products. They will be thrown away.
*Pre-packaged Trail mix, nuts, and hard candies are OK to send!
